Admissions Process
Welcome to Good Shepherd Montessori School
We are honored that you are considering us. We would love to meet your family and to share more about what makes Good Shepherd Montessori School a vibrant and joyful place.
The best way to get to know us – and for us to get to know your family – is to complete our inquiry form. This sets in motion the rest of the admissions process, which is outlined below. If you have questions at any point, please contact our Admissions Director, Alexandra Wright, at admissions@gsms.org.
Once you complete the inquiry form, you may find it helpful to read through both our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page and our information on the Montessori Method of education prior to your visit to the school.
Outline of the Admissions Process
1. Complete the Inquiry Form
After you complete this form, look for an email explaining the next steps of the admissions process. If anything is unclear, please contact the admissions team at (574) 288–0098 or admissions@gsms.org.
2. Attend an information night or school tour
We encourage families with primary children (ages 3–6) to attend one of our primary info nights. All other families will be invited for a tour of the school. At different stages of the admissions process, all families will be offered the opportunity to spend 15–20 minutes observing a classroom, which is a great way for parents to see Montessori education in action.
3. Submit an Application for Admission
The application deadline is March 1 to be considered for financial aid. The deadline for all other applicants is March 15. All application documents and fees must be submitted prior to the deadline in order to be considered for financial aid.
4. Schedule a classroom visit for your child
This visit is an opportunity for both our guides and your child to assess first-hand whether one of our classroom environments is a good fit.
5. Receive admission decision
Great care is given to building classroom environments that are balanced according to age, sex, special needs, socio-economic diversity, and racial diversity. Given this commitment, along with our desire to maintain an authentic Montessori environment, enrollment decisions and waitlist positions are not determined strictly on a “first come, first served” basis. Enrollment decisions are made after the overall application deadline has passed. Typically, notification of acceptance or non-acceptance occurs within 2 to 3 weeks after the application deadline.
