Admissions Journey

Step One: School Visit

The best way to get to know us – and for us to get to know your family – is to come for a visit. We offer weekly tours during the school year where you can have an opportunity to experience day-to-day life at Good Shepherd.

To make the most of your visit, you may find it helpful to read through our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page before you arrive.

In addition to individual tours, each year we host two open houses which are a great opportunity to tour the school, meet classroom guides, and ask current and former GSMS parents and students about their experiences.

2018 - 2019 Open House Dates

Sunday, November 11th, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 27th, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Step Three: Classroom Assessment

Following receipt of completed application materials and payment of the application fee, we will schedule a time for your child to spend a half day in one of our classrooms.

The purpose of this half day is to give our guides an opportunity to assess first-hand whether one of our classroom environments is a good fit for your child. In addition, it is an opportunity for your child to assess whether a Montessori classroom is right for him or her.

After the classroom assessment, the classroom guide and Head of School – using all of the information gathered during the admissions process – collaborate to make an acceptance decision.

Step Four: Notification

Due to our commitment to maintaining an authentic Montessori environment, enrollment decisions and waitlist positions are not determined on a "first come, first served" basis.

Great care is given to building classroom environments that are balanced according to age, sex, special needs, socio-economic, and racial diversity. Enrollment decisions are made after the overall application deadline has passed. Typically, notification of acceptance or non-acceptance occurs within 2 to 3 weeks after the application deadline.

For more information regarding our enrollment decision process, please see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) or contact us.
